Comments: Mr Biring is absolutely superb but I think it would be a good idea to produce a booklet telling hip patients some of the things they may expect, like those side-effects papers inside medication boxes. For example, it was a big shock to have to inject myself in the tum every day, I would have liked that flagged as a possibility. Also, I was given to understand that after 6 weeks I would be OK, & indeed that is the experience of many, but at week 6 I am still in pain and still need a stick. It was a huge shock for Mr Biring to say use the stick for another 6 weeks. I think experts kind of expect people to have their knowledge in a general sort of way eg if I show a painting on the screen by a famous artist like Rubens, I expect my students to recognise it. I knew NOTHING about hip replacements. Everyone differs, but a faq booklet would have been helpful. eg must i now encourage my operated leg to go beyond 90 degrees? I so want advice & information post week 6. Anyway this is about Mr Biring, who is above criticism and all praise, I hope he has rid me of a painful hip. I am grateful to him for fitting me in for the op. he can add me to his fan base. Patient Seen for Hip Replacement
